KUDO Canarias S.L. – Bike Rental Terms & Conditions

1. Customer Responsibility

Customers are fully responsible for the bicycle and all included equipment throughout the rental period. All items must be returned in the same condition as received, excluding normal wear from proper use.

Included equipment may include:

Any damage, loss, misuse, or missing equipment will be charged accordingly.

Theft or total loss of the bicycle or accessories results in full replacement charges, even if optional insurance was purchased.

The rented bicycle may only be used by the registered customer unless otherwise approved by KUDO Canarias S.L. The customer remains fully responsible for any third-party use.

Customers may not sell, sublease, transfer, modify, disassemble, or install accessories/components on the bicycle without approval from KUDO Canarias S.L.

Bicycles may not be transported outside Tenerife without prior written approval.

2. Rider Capability & Safety

By renting the bicycle, the customer confirms they:

Helmet and lighting requirements must be respected where legally required.

The minimum rental age is 18 years old. Minors may only ride under the responsibility and signed authorization of a parent or legal guardian.

KUDO Canarias S.L. is not liable for accidents, injuries, personal damage, or third-party claims occurring during the rental period.

  • are physically and mentally capable of safely operating the bicycle,
  • understand the risks associated with cycling activities,
  • will comply with all Spanish traffic and cycling regulations.

3. Permitted & Prohibited Use

Bikes may be used for normal road cycling, gravel riding, light MTB riding, and standard recreational use appropriate for the bicycle type.

The following uses are strictly prohibited unless specifically authorised:

Customers are responsible for all damages resulting from prohibited use.

  • Downhill riding
  • Enduro riding
  • Jump lines or stunt riding
  • Bike parks
  • Racing or competitions
  • Any abusive or dangerous use beyond intended riding conditions

4. Security & Overnight Storage

Bikes must always be secured using the provided lock when unattended.

Theft is not covered by insurance. Customers remain fully liable for the replacement value of stolen bicycles or equipment.

  • Hotel room
  • Apartment or villa interior
  • Locked garage
  • Secure indoor private space
  • KUDO Canarias S.L. shop during office hours
  • Outside,
  • On balconies,
  • In public areas,
  • In unlocked vehicles,
  • Or in unsecured shared spaces.

5. Deposit & Payment

Full rental payment and deposit are due before the bicycle is released.

A deposit of €100 per bicycle may be taken by:

Deposits are normally released or refunded within 24 hours after the rental ends, provided all equipment is returned without damage, loss, unpaid charges, or contract violations.

KUDO Canarias S.L. reserves the right to partially or fully retain the deposit to cover:

By accepting this agreement, the customer authorises KUDO Canarias S.L. to charge the provided payment method for damages, theft, missing items, penalties, or unpaid rental charges related to the rental agreement.

Early returns are non-refundable.

Late returns will be charged at double the daily rental rate for each delayed day.

  • Or cash.

  • Missing equipment,
  • Transport damage,
  • Late returns,
  • Contract violations,
  • Or unpaid balances.

6. Breakdowns, Repairs & Technical Assistance

If a mechanical issue occurs due to normal use or a fault of the bicycle, KUDO Canarias S.L. will provide appropriate assistance which may include:

Assistance is provided only for issues not caused by customer misuse, negligence, crashes, prohibited use, or improper handling.

If the issue is not caused by KUDO Canarias S.L., support is limited to WhatsApp assistance only.

One spare inner tube is provided free of charge. Customers are responsible for repairing standard punctures themselves.

Additional punctures, tires, tubes, or customer-caused damage are not covered unless optional insurance applies.

  • Replacement bicycle,
  • Mechanic support,
  • Transport assistance,
  • Roadside support,
  • Taxi reimbursement where approved,
  • Or collection of the bicycle.

7. Accident, Theft & Damage Reporting

Customers must immediately contact KUDO Canarias S.L. using the provided emergency number in the event of:

Failure to report incidents immediately may result in loss of insurance coverage or additional liability.

No refunds or compensation will be provided for unused rental time resulting from accidents, damage, theft, misuse, negligence, or customer-caused interruptions.

  • Accident,
  • Crash,
  • Theft,
  • Police involvement,
  • Significant mechanical issue,
  • Or damage to the bicycle.

8. Office Hours & Returns

Office Hours

Standard office hours:

Monday-Saturday:

09:00-13:00

18:00-20:00

Sunday: Closed

During summer periods or seasonal operations, office hours may vary. Customers are advised to verify current opening hours via Google Maps or official KUDO Canarias S.L. communication channels before arrival.

Sunday Rental Rules

Sunday rentals require:

  • Saturday evening pickup between 19:00-20:00,
  • Mandatory return Monday by 09:00.

Late Returns

Late returns are charged at double the standard 1-day rental price for each delayed day or part thereof.

9. Cancellations

  • Free cancellation up to 48 hours before rental start.
  • 50% cancellation fee for cancellations made 24-48 hours before rental start.
  • No refund for cancellations made within 24 hours of rental start.

10. Optional Rental Insurance

Insurance is optional and must be selected before the start of the rental.

Insurance provides coverage for accidental bicycle damage up to €500 per claim.

A mandatory €50 franchise fee applies to every claim regardless of claim amount.

With insurance, KUDO Canarias S.L. may provide:

Without insurance, customers remain fully liable for all damages and assistance costs.

Insurance does not cover:

  • Technical assistance,
  • Repair support,
  • Replacement bicycles (subject to availability),
  • Approved transport assistance.
  • Personal injury,
  • Civil liability,
  • Third-party damages,
  • Theft or total loss.

Covered

  • Accidental bicycle damage
  • First puncture/inner tube
  • Approved technical assistance related to covered damage

Not Covered

  • Theft
  • Loss of bicycle or accessories
  • Second or additional punctures
  • Damage caused by prohibited use
  • Damage exceeding €500
  • Negligence, misuse, or failure to secure the bicycle
  • Water damage to electronic components or batteries
  • Improper charging or misuse of e-bike systems

11. Agreement & Legal Jurisdiction

By booking, paying, collecting, or using the bicycle, the customer confirms acceptance of all terms and conditions stated above.

All rentals are governed by Spanish law.

Any legal disputes shall be handled by the courts of Tenerife, Spain.
